Ideal for sports, webcasting, reality TV, and even security
Can feed a 10-bit 4:2:2 signal to any 4K-capable recorder
Full-size HDMI output and mini-BNC connectors
Active MFT Mount
Ultra-Compact. Blackmagic Design’s Micro Studio Camera 4K is advertised as the smallest Ultra HD Broadcast Studio camera in its class. Along with the plethora of broadcast tools and functions that the Micro still carries, its small size makes it ideal for sporting events, webcasting, reality TV, and even security.
4K Capable. The BMD Micro Studio stays ahead of the competition by coupling its compact size with an impressive Ultra HD image sensor. The 6G-SDI output can feed a 10-bit 4:2:2 signal to any 4K-capable recorder. Please note that the camera itself isn’t capable of
recording internally at all.
Active MFT Lens Mount. The Micro 4/3 lens mount on the camera features support for active, electronic lens connections. This makes it compatible with a wide array of Micro 4/3’s glass.
Broadcast Compatibility. The Micro comes equipped with a full-size HDMI output as well as mini-BNC connectors for 6G-SDI output and SDI camera-control input. Connect the program-feed output from the ATEM switcher to the camera’s SDI input and you can remotely control any setting in the camera; set focus, iris, and zoom on supported lenses; and even color correct. The included breakout cable also adds support for LANC control, genlock for timecode, and control for B4 lenses.
External Power. Along with a 12V-30V DC power input for AC adapter use, the Micro Studio 4K offers a Canon LP-E6 receptacle slot for incredibly convenient power that doesn’t sacrifice mobility.
Built-In Talkback Feature. The Micro Studio 4K also offers a fully supportive talkback function which allows you to listen for cues or take direction by plugging your headset into the camera while going through the SDI connection, an extremely useful feature when transitioning from camera to camera.
Does this camera support servo zoom?
When using a LANC zoom controller, such as the Libec ZC-LP, servo zoom control is available for the following active MFT-mount lenses: Olympus 12-50mm F/3.5-6.3 Zuiko EZ, Olympus 14-42mm F/3.5-6 EZ, and Panasonic PZ 45-175mm F/4.0-5.6 OIS.
In our testing we were able to get all of our SDI recorders, other then the Odyssey 7Q, to receive an 4k SDI signal. However you need to have both SDI and HDMI connected to the recorder, because you can only see your settings via the HDMI output.
Due to copyright, we can’t include the DaVinci Resolve dongle with rentals. You may download DaVinci Resolve Lite for free here.
This camera includes adapter cables to change its unusual mini-BNC connectors into more common BNCF standard; however, BNC cables aren’t included and must be rented separately.
This camera doesn’t include a hot shoe mount or adapter. If you want to use any shoe-mountable accessories, you must provide your own adapter.
No, this camera doesn’t have a built-in recording function. You’ll need an external recorder that has an SDI connection and tolerates 4K in order to capture footage.
This rental doesn’t include a lens.
