The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 is a compact & lightweight broadcast camera solution designed to work well with powerful SDI switchers, and is an update to the 4K Pro. Key features include:
Micro 4/3 lens mount
Capture up to UHD 4K 3840 × 2160p60
Live streaming
12G-SDI, HDMI & 10G Ethernet video I/O
4K Resolution, MFT Mounted Production. The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 boasts a 4K MFT sensor that features a resolution of 4096 × 2160. Unlike simpler broadcast cameras, this camera offers a built-in DaVinci Resolve primary color corrector, which allows the user to manipulate color in creative and artistic ways that dramatically affect the mood of a scene and can be easily controlled using a switcher. To ensure color correction is easily attainable, the Studio 4K Pro G2 offers 13 stops of dynamic range to provide darker blacks and brighter whites. This unit is equipped with a Micro 4/3 mount, allowing for a pretty lengthy list of compatible photographic lenses. The lens can also be controlled remotely using the optional focus and zoom demands, eliminating the shake and vibration of manually adjusting your lens.
What’s Changed? Similar to the Studio Camera 4K Pro, the 4K Pro G2 incorporates many previous add-ons from Blackmagic, like control knobs, easily readable tally lighting, a 7-inch touchscreen LCD, and a slide plate mounting system with 15mm LWS rod mounts. The 4K Pro G2 now offers shock and wind resistant built-in microphones placed strategically on the edges of the screen, and also offers a 3.5mm jack for monitoring your audio in real time. You’ll also have the ability to record BRAW to external hard drives and camera control via Blackmagic’s ATEM Mini line of switchers.
External SSD Recording. This camera features dual USB Type C ports that allow users to record Blackmagic RAW directly to external SSDs for quick transport of files to a computer for editing. Please note that external USB Type C SSDs are the only type of media accepted by this camera.
Connection, Your Way. Like most Blackmagic models, an HDMI connection is available to support video, tally, control, and record trigger for a broadcast-style workflow using a single HDMI cable. Two 12G-SDI connections are available, one for camera video, and the other for program return. A single 10G Ethernet port is also included to obtain camera video, program return, tally, talkback, camera control, and even power using a regular Cat 6a Ethernet cable.
Power Trip. We mentioned above that this unit can be powered using an Ethernet connection, but this unit can also be fueled via a 12 VDC locking power connector, and also offers a power supply with five different AC socket adapters for different countries. When going the ethernet route, the entire camera and its accessories can be fueled without the need for extra unnecessary cables.
Additional Features. Not only does this unit offer live streaming, HDR support, and balanced XLR audio inputs, it keeps everything in a compact and lightweight design. All of the benefits of having a fully functional broadcast camera are made miniature with this unit, and allows this camera to push the boundaries of how we view cinema broadcast.
No. External USB Type C SSDs are the only type of media accepted by this camera.
