The Blackmagic Design Videohub 40 × 40 12G is a video router offering 40x 12G-SDI inputs and 40x 12-SDI outputs, plus Ethernet-out to connect to a network switch. Key features include:
- Centralization of all your SDI cables into a 2U rack-mountable hub
- Connect any video input to any video output, or one input to several outputs
- Multi-rate connections for routing 40 different video standards at once
- Sleek front panel with controls and a 5" LCD
Panel Features. With shortcut buttons for entering source and destination, In/Out/Clear buttons for quick switching, and a large spin knob, the Blackmagic Design Videohub 40 × 40 12G allows convenient and intuitive control without outside hardware. However, you can also change settings remotely via USB or over Ethernet using Blackmagic’s VideoHub control software. The front is also equipped with a 5" LCD for not only viewing labels but also for monitoring your live sources. Scroll up and down your sources to see each input as live video, even if your inputs are using different video standards. All of this is housed in a 2U rack-mountable frame.
Multi-rate, Re-clocking, and Redunant Mastering. The multi-rate 12G-SDI connections enable routing up to 40 different video standards simultaneously, whether it’s SD, HD, Ultra HD or DCI 4K. It supports 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 color sampling with 10/12-bit processing. Audio sampling is the television standard of 48 kHz, 24-bit. There is SDI re-clocking on every input to ensure signal quality, which is particularly useful for longer cable runs and preventing “jitter” (a disparity between desired signal timing and actual signal). This greatly reduces the risk of black frames or other glitching. Use multiple HyperDeck recorders for redundant mastering or pair the Videohub with an ATEM switcher for extra inputs.
Whether you’re distributing video to various lobby TVs, running a public access station, showing multiple events in a sports bar, or routing video through multiple streaming processes for broadcast platforms, the Blackmagic Design Videohub 40 × 40 12G will help you create larger-scale production setups in an orderly and more compact way.
