The Canon XF605 is a essentially a slightly smaller version of the flagship Canon XF705. It has a 1", UHD 4K sensor capable of 60fps 4:2:2 10-bit recording to dual SD cards in an efficient H.265 codec. Key features include:
1-inch, 13.4 MP, UHD 4K, CMOS sensor
25.5-382.5mm equivalent, f/2.8-4.5, 15x optical zoom lens
Records up to 4K/60fps, 4:2:2 10-bit, H.265 files to dual SD media slots
Dual pixel auto focus & built-in 3-stop motorized ND filters
What’s Changed? Compared to the older Canon XF705 you have a slightly smaller body by ~2 inches, and a change to the more powerful Digic DV 7 processor from the DV 6. You also gain the option of shooting HD in the more efficient H.265 codec. The lens is unchanged but both viewfinder and monitor are slightly smaller to match the more compact body size. Despite being smaller, the touchscreen LCD monitor has an increase in resolution from 1.2 to 2.76 million dots.
1-inch, 13.4 MP, UHD 4K, CMOS Sensor. The XF605 uses a 4268 × 3148 resolution, 13.4 MP, 1-inch CMOS sensor, and you can choose among 59.94, 29.97, and 23.98 fps settings to achieve just the look you want. The camera supports UHD 4K at up to a 260 Mbps bit rate in H.265 mode or 410 Mbps in MXF with 4:2:2 10-bit color sampling. Shooting in 1080p extends frame rate options up to 120 fps.
SD Card Recording. The camera records to SDXC memory cards and has two card slots that allow for simultaneous and relay recording. This means you can continuously record indefinitely by exchanging cards as they fill.
Canon 15x Zoom Lens. The XF605’s L-series lens has a 35mm-equivalent zoom range of 25.5-382.5mm, dual pixel auto focus system, and 5-axis optical image stabilization. A waveform monitor and vectorscope are built right into the camera. The freely rotating 3.45-inch touchscreen monitor and 0.36-inch OLED electronic viewfinder show a 100% field of view. The aperture has 9 blades for smooth out of focus highlights.
Professional Inputs & Outputs. The XF605 features industry-standard 12G-SDI BNC output, genlock input, SMPTE timecode BNC input/output terminals, and Ethernet making it perfectly suited for multi-camera, live event productions. Audio input utilizes two phantom powered XLR or one stereo mini-jack for up to four channels of recorded audio.
Additional Features. A wi-fi adapter provides wireless connectivity for transferring files via FTP and IP streaming in H.265 or H.264. This camera has three stops of ND filtration on a motorized filter wheel and is the first fixed-lens camera from Canon to feature the Canon Log 3 color gamut for greater grading flexibility in post.
