The DZOFilm Catta Ace 18-35mm T2.9 Parfocal Zoom is a reasonably fast parfocal cine zoom for EF-mount cameras and camcorders. Key features include:
Maintains focus throughout the zoom range
Near-zero focus breathing
High-quality cine build with geared focus and zoom rings
Sixteen-blade aperture diaphragm
Versatile Cine Zoom. The DZOFilm Catta Ace 18-35mm T2.9 Parfocal Zoom provides a wide-angle zoom range that makes it a versatile cine lens. Its sixteen-blade aperture produces round, extremely pleasing bokeh, and its optical design ensures sharpness and highly accurate color reproduction.
Parfocal Design. The parfocal design means this lens holds focus throughout its zoom range, and its internal-focusing floating-elements construction all but eliminates focus breathing.
Cinema Build. The 18-35mm T2.9’s aperture and focusing rings boast standard 0.8 mod gears so that you can easily install a follow-focus system. Its geared focus ring has 270° of travel and ensures smooth, precise focusing and zooming, while its 1.7-foot minimum focusing distance lets you get in close. You get a 100° zoom rotation range and a 77° iris rotation range. Its 80mm front diameter lets you use standard matte boxes, and there’s a 77mm filter thread to boot.
Durable, Lightweight Construction. This lens’s polycarbonate and glass-fiber body keeps its weight a low 4.1 lbs., so you can use it handheld or with a gimbal or drone. It’s about 7.1 inches long, which is fairly typical for a cine lens with this range.
We recommend using a rail support system and lens support. We have provided links to our universal baseplates under Recommended on the right-hand side of this page; however, we also carry camera-specific kits. Those can be found under Recommended on the right-hand side of compatible camcorder pages. When in doubt, please contact us.
