The Fuji X-Pro3 is a sophisticated mirrorless rangefinder-inspired camera with a distinct hybrid viewfinder design, and an update to the Fuji X-Pro2. It also borrows features from the X-T3. Key features include:
26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 APS-C sensor; X-Processor 4 engine
Hybrid Multi Viewfinder includes an OVF and an EVF
Fast, accurate phase-detect autofocus system
Hidden 3.0-inch, 180° tilting touchscreen LCD
What’s Changed. The Fuji X-Pro3’s updated 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 engine combine to give you higher-quality images and faster speeds than its predecessor, which itself was widely praised for its image quality. The X-Pro3’s rear LCD faces the camera so you need to flip it down to use it, while a rear-facing status panel displays your current camera settings and film-simulation mode. The Hybrid Multi Viewfinder combines an optical viewfinder and an OLED electronic viewfinder, letting you use a dedicated lever to switch between the two. You also get two new film-simulation modes.
26.1MP X-Trans CMOS Sensor. The X-Pro3’s X-Trans 4 sensor boasts a back-illuminated design and a randomized pixel array that promote high image quality throughout its normal ISO range of 160-12,800. In addition to facilitating exceptional low-light use, the X-Processor 4 Engine also supercharges operation speed. Image processing, startup time, shutter lag, and general navigation time have all been greatly reduced compared to the X-Pro2’s.
UHD and DCI 4K Video. Although the X-Pro3 is a fantastic stills-focused camera, it also has a range of video capabilities. You get internal UHD and DCI 4K30p, and Full HD 60p, while the X-Processor 4 engine enables fast read speeds when recording 4K and reduces rolling shutter distortion when capturing moving subjects. You can handle color in post or by choosing from any number of Fuji’s film simulations and grain effects. The camera features a 2.5mm mic port for using an external mic, and a 3.5mm external mic adapter is available (*by request only) to give you more options for advanced audio capture.
Phase-Detection Autofocus System. This camera’s advanced on-sensor phase-detection autofocus system uses 425 selectable points to cover almost the entire sensor area, giving you solid speed and subject tracking in a wide range of lighting conditions. Face- and Eye-Detection autofocus maintain accurate tracking when you’re shooting portraits from the front or side, and eye-detection AF works in AF-C mode. If you’re coming from a modern-day DSLR, you’ll be happy to know the X-Pro3 has a dedicated joystick for intuitive AF-point selection.
Hybrid Multi Viewfinder. The distinct Hybrid Multi Viewfinder lets you use a dedicated lever on the front of the camera to select between optical and electronic viewfinder types. The familiar OVF’s clear, lifelike view of the scene makes composition and subject tracking easier. The OVF incorporates an Electronic Rangefinder option that mimics a mechanical rangefinder’s functionality and overlays information from the EVF on top of the OVF for comparative manual-focus control. The versatile 3.69-m dot EVF’s fast 100 fps playback speed keeps lag at a minimum for smooth tracking and panning. The EVF lets you preview exposure settings before you shoot, and gives you the option of configuring the amount and type of information it displays.
Hidden Touchscreen LCD. This large 3.0-inch, 1.62m-dot touchscreen LCD rests against the camera body when not in use, and flips downward 180° when you’re ready to shoot. This is meant to encourage a more traditional viewfinder-based shooting style.
Ergonomics and Build. This camera’s magnesium-build body is sealed to protect against dust, moisture, and the cold. Fully manual aluminum control dials and levers provide a responsive feel while staying in position, while the button placement and grip make the camera comfortable in your hand. The X-Pro3 is powered by an NP-W126S battery and features two UHD-II compatible SD/SDHC/SDXC-card slots.
Need a Memory Card? You’ll need an ultra-fast memory card for a camera this powerful, and we recommend the Sony 128GB SF-G Tough Series UHS-II SDXC. This camera can take full advantage of its superior 299 MB/s max write speed and 300 MB/s max read speed for high-resolution, high-bitrate capture.
