The PocketWizard Plus IIIe Transceiver is an update to the very popular PocketWizard Plus III workhorse. It combines multiple transceiver models’ technologies into a single unit. Key features include:
112 selectable channels and quad-zone triggering
Up to 14.5 fps shooting
Automated switching between transmit and receive modes
Five-mile wireless range
Auto-Sensing Transceiver. This transceiver automatically swaps between transmit and receive modes as needed. There’s also the option to manually choose transmit or receive for complicated setups.
Long-Range Capability. When used in ideal conditions, the Plus IIIe can produce and receive a signal from up to 5 miles away, compared to the standard Plus III’s 1600-foot range.
112 Channels, Minimal Interference. With a total of 112 channels—32 of which are Quad-Zone and 80 of which are Long-Range Quad Zone—the Plus IIIe has plenty of options for shooting in crowded airwaves. The Plus IIIe uses a radio signal, which means you don’t have to be in its line-of-sight for it to work. Basically, it’ll work if you’re within range—again, up to five miles in perfect conditions.
Quad-Zone Triggering. You can independently activate and deactivate remote flashes in four controllable zones.
Simple User Interface. You can easily manage Channels, Zones, and Modes with soft-touch buttons and the easy-to-read, backlit, one-inch LCD screen.
Multiple Modes. The Plus IIIe offers many of its predecessor’s modes. Auto-Relay enables remote cameras and flashes to be triggered in tandem, Repeater lets you reach even greater distances when using an extra Plus IIIe, and High Speed Receive expands the normal 12 fps maximum frame rate to up to 14.5 fps.
Compatibility. The Plus IIIe is compatible with PocketWizard E-Series radios that have the E-Release firmware.
Connectivity Options. The Plus IIIe is triggered via hot shoe when attached to a camera and sync cord when attached to a flash. You’ll need one PocketWizard for each flash unit, as well as one for the camera.
Will you be working with shoe-mount flashes? We send one PocketWizard-to-PC cord with each PocketWizard. This will allow you to connect it to a Canon 580 EX II or Nikon SB900 flash (or other flash that has a PC cable input). The Canon 480EX II, Canon 580EX, Nikon SB 600, and Nikon SB 700 flashes do not have PC inputs.
Just so we’re clear: We don’t know how you’re going to hook up your PocketWizards, what other equipment you’re using them with, or what types of cables you may already have. We’ll only send the cables and PocketWizards you order. If you meant to order something (but didn’t), thought it came with the equipment (it doesn’t), or assumed we knew what you’d need (we don’t), you’ll be using very high ISO on your shoot and we won’t be able to refund you.
The PocketWizard Plus IIIe is powered by two AA batteries, which aren’t included with this rental.
We offer the Rechargeable AA Battery 8-Pack Travel Kit, Panasonic Eneloop Pro AA Ni-MH 2550mAh 4-pack, and Nitecore New i4 Intellicharger as separate rental items.
