The Roland VR-120HD Direct Streaming AV Mixer is a professional-grade mixer that combines the advanced functions of a video switcher and an audio mixer. It’s equally great for in-person, online, and hybrid productions. Key features include:
Portable, pro-grade hybrid event AV streaming mixer
12 total Full HD video inputs; 42 audio channels
Easy-to-use automation with sequencing and macros
2x live streams at up to 1080p60; SDXC recording
Powerful Hybrid Mixer. The Roland VR-120HD Direct Streaming AV Mixer is a portable, pro-grade mixer that lets a single operator easily manage audio mixing and video switching for in-person, streaming, and hybrid live/online productions without the need for external gear or additional personnel. You get customizable workflows, robust automation, remote PTZ camera control, one-touch macro sequencing, direct LAN and USB-C streaming, and more.
12 Total Full HD Video Inputs. The VR-120HD uses six HDMI inputs and six 3G-SDI inputs to receive 1080p video, each of which support a broad array of broadcast and cinematic frame rates and color spaces. All of the HDMI inputs have built-in scalers with EDID and HDCP support, ensuring hassle-free output consistency among varied client-provided sources like computers, tablets, smartphones, gaming consoles, and legacy 4:3 devices.
Still and Video Playback. This mixer includes on-board graphics and video-clip playback support. You can call up stills as interstitials between presenters, display graphics for breaks, and use PNGs to jazz up the lower third of the screen with chyrons galore.
8-Layer Video-Effects Engine. The VR-120HD’s effects engine gives you eight composition layers that you can assign to the Program, Sub-Program, and Aux outputs. Among the included video effects are transitions, four picture-in-picture windows, two downstream key layers with transparent PNG and external key support, still image capture, still image playback, and output fade.
Assignable Video Outputs. This mixer includes three SDI outputs, three HDMI outputs, a USB-C streaming output, and ethernet streaming, letting you simultaneously feed program displays, auxiliary monitors, multi-view producer displays, and the online audience. On top of that, you still get a clean output so that you can simultaneously record your entire show to an SDXC card for future distribution.
42-Channel Digital Audio Mixer. The V-120HD features a 42-channel audio mixer and up to 24-bit, 48 kHz LPCM audio with a range of effects. It can provide auto mixing, delay, reverb, high-pass filter, echo canceller, anti-feedback, noise gate, de-esser, compressor, equalizer, voice changer, multiband compressor, limiter, and test-tone output. It features six balanced audio inputs with XLR / 1/4-inch combination jacks; four RCA inputs for standard line-level devices; and HDMI, SDI, and USB inputs that let you mix embedded digital audio. There are also high-quality mic preamps and phantom power.
Versatile Mixing Options. This mixer includes eight assignable faders that let you set up direct control for the sound feeds you want to prioritize. An auto-mixing feature helps ensure that the balance among mics is right when you’re working with multiple presenters by letting you set specific inputs to take priority when someone starts to speak and then automatically reducing other audio levels as needed. Two auxiliary audio busses give you the flexibility to set up unique mixes for different audiences and applications. For example, you send a specialized monitor mix to stage performers while also livestreaming a mix that differs from the in-person mix. You can freely assign the mix and aux busses to the two stereo XLR outputs, RCA stereo output, USB and stream/record outputs, or HDMI or SDI outputs.
Shape Your Sounds. The VR-120HD allows you to apply discrete EQ and dynamics processing to each input and output, and there are built-in anti-feedback and adaptive noise-reduction settings to correct common problems on the fly. An on-board Audio Player section incorporates eight assignable MPC-style pads that you can use to trigger sound effects, event announcements, theme songs, e-sports countdowns, and any other sound that might enhance your broadcast.
Simultaneous Streaming and Onboard Recording. With the Roland VR-120HD, you get smooth livestreaming to most popular streaming platforms with simultaneous recording to SDXC cards. This mixer’s LAN-streaming capabilities let you directly connect to Twitch, Facebook, and other platforms without a computer. You can encode and broadcast ethernet livestreams to two independent channels on the same platform to reach the widest possible audience or use the second channel to create a local backup in real time. Additionally, you can use a computer to stream to any audience via a USB-C connection. This mixer uses the same plug-and-play interface as a webcam, so you can immediately start streaming over Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and any other platform that can use a webcam as its source.
SDXC Recording. As previously mentioned, the VR-120HD can easily record an event to an SDXC card so that you can give your client an H.254 MP4 video file for editing and distribution. It can also independently record stereo WAV audio for podcasts and other audio-driven media. You can even capture stills from any of the video output busses and save those to the memory card.
Recall, Macros, and Sequencing. You can store and recall customer looks with a few button presses, and the 32 scene memories and effects engine provide seamless changes between looks. The VR-120HD has 100 macros that let you build and instantly execute complex actions, like switching, audio-mixing changes, PTZ camera moves, and more. The built-in sequencer makes using presets and macros even easier—it lets you record up to 1000 steps so that you can set up cues ahead of time and have them trigger automatically.
PTZ Camera Integration. This powerful switcher can control a mix of up to twelve compatible PTZ cameras, like the Canon CR-N500 Professional 4K NDI PTZ Camera with 15x Zoom, using IP or serial protocols, consolidating all control in the V-120HD. It also supports wired and wireless tally, as well as live production automation with sequencing, macros, and preset memories.
