The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary A1 for Canon is a compact, budget-friendly super telephoto zoom lens designed for full-frame Canon DSLRs. Key features include:
Superb for wildlife and outdoor photography
Excellent image quality, clarity, contrast, and sharpness
Fast, smooth, and silent autofocus
Optical image stabilization with accelerometer
Super Telephoto Zoom. This long-range zoom provides a large focal range to capture subjects at a great distance. While it’s not quite as ideal for sports photography as the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports for Canon, this “Contemporary” version is perfectly suited for wildlife and outdoor shooting. The variable f/5-6.3 aperture may be a tad limiting for low-light shooting, so you’ll get the best performance while shooting in daylight.
Hyper Sonic Motor Autofocus System. Provides fast, silent operation in a wide variety of shooting situations. The Autofocus/Manual Focus switch also has a Manual Override position that enables full-time manual focus override for quick fine tuning.
Optical Stabilizer with Accelerometer. Helps to eliminate camera shake when shooting. For improved panning performance, Sigma has added an accelerometer to help detect horizontal and vertical movement when shooting in Mode 2.
High Image Quality. As a part of Sigma’s Contemporary line, this lens goes through Sigma’s rigorous A1 testing, ensuring high image quality. One “F” Low-Dispersion element, which performs equivalently to fluorite, guarantees sharp images. Meanwhile, two Special Low-Dispersion elements maximize image clarity and contrast.
Professional Build. The lens barrel is constructed of Sigma’s durable Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material, which ensures minimal shrinkage in extreme conditions. This “Contemporary” version doesn’t get the full weather sealing that the “Sports” version does, but it does have a weather-seal on the mount to help protect the camera body. Its zoom-lock switch and rotating tripod ring give you ultimate flexibility when shooting from a tripod or monopod.
Dock Compatible. As part of Sigma’s Global Vision series, this lens is compatible with the Sigma USB Dock for Canon EF Lenses, allowing you to adjust certain parameters through the Sigma Optimization Pro software.
Sigma TC-Compatible. This lens is officially supported by Sigma’s own TC-1401 1.4x and TC-2001 2x Teleconverter for Canon.
