Versatile Telephoto Zoom. The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS Sports provides a broad focal range that’s perfect for sports, wildlife, and action photography, in addition to any other situation with fast-moving subjects. The fast f/2.8 aperture lets you shoot in low light while offering excellent focus control when using shallow depth-of-field techniques. Using an APS-C camera? You’ll get a focal range equivalent to 105-300mm.
Dual High-Response Linear Action Autofocus. The 70-200mm’s autofocus system uses an AF actuator driven by dual High-Response Linear Action motors to deliver fast, precise, and silent operation in a wide variety of shooting situations. Its floating-focus configuration means there’s markedly less movement in each focus group, which significantly increases responsiveness. You also get full-time manual-focus override for quick fine-tuning. There’s minimal focus breathing on the wide and tele ends alike, which makes the 70-200mm great for video applications, and ensures stability when shooting hand-held, with a gimbal, or on a tripod.
OS2 Optical Image Stabilization System. Sigma’s OS2 optical image stabilization system helps to eliminate camera shake when shooting, offering up to 7.5 stops of compensation at the wide end and 5.5 stops at the tele end. There are two image-stabilization modes: Mode 1 is meant for general handheld shooting, while Mode 2 uses Sigma’s Intelligent OS algorithm to assist with panning shots and sports shooting.
Advanced Optical Design. As a part of Sigma’s Sports line, this lens goes through Sigma’s rigorous A1 testing, ensuring high image quality. Its fifteen-group/twenty-element optical design incorporates three “F” Low-Dispersion elements, two Special Low-Dispersion elements, and three aspherical elements, which maintain sharpness throughout the zoom range while eliminating chromatic aberrations.
Professional-Grade Build. The lens barrel is constructed of magnesium and Sigma’s durable Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material, which ensures minimal shrinkage in extreme conditions. The dust- and splash-proof sealing allows for worry-free shooting in adverse situations, with water- and oil-repellent coatings on the front and rear elements to keep them clean. There are easy-to-locate focus and aperture rings, the latter of which has click and lock switches. This rental includes the heavy-duty Sigma TS-121 tripod socket with a removable, replaceable foot, which evenly distributes the lens’s weight to give you flexibility when shooting from a tripod or monopod.
