Full-Frame E-Mount. As a part of the G Master line of lenses, the 12-24mm f/2.8 is designed to cover Sony E-mount cameras’ full-frame sensors. It’s also fully compatible with APS-C NEX cameras.

Ultra-Wide Zoom. When used on a full-frame camera, this lens’s zoom range is wide. Like really wide. Its field of view ranges from 122° at its widest to 84° at the long end, which means it’s perfect for night scenes and starry skies. With an APS-C sensor camera, you’ll get a focal length equivalent to 18-36mm. The constant f/2.8 aperture and rounded nine-blade diaphragm make it a great choice for low-light shooting while giving you excellent depth-of-field control.

Advanced Optics. The FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM’s fourteen-group/seventeen-element design includes one aspherical element, three extreme aspherical elements, and two extra-low dispersion elements to minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations, and to produce extremely sharp high-resolution images. Nano AR II coatings keep reflections, flare, and ghosting at bay while maintaining clarity and color fidelity.

XD Linear Motor Autofocus System. The XD Linear Motor system uses four autofocus motors and an internal-focusing design to provide fast, nearly silent, and highly accurate focusing performance that’s great for still and video use. A dedicated focus hold button and AF/MF switch help to tailor focusing to your shooting needs.

High-Quality Build. The FE 12-24mm offers dust- and moisture-resistant sealing for use in less-than-ideal conditions. The all-metal barrel and smooth, responsive, rubberized zoom and manual-focus rings give this lens a solid feel. Its front element has a fluorine coating to help protect it from fingerprints and debris.
