The Sony FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G is a compact, full-frame mid-range zoom designed for Sony E-mount cameras. It’s great for stills and video alike. Key features include:
Versatile, fast, and lightweight mid-range zoom
Optimized for high-def video capture at high speeds
Advanced optical formula for extremely sharp images
Fast, nearly silent, and highly accurate autofocus
Full-Frame E-Mount. The Sony FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G is designed to cover the full-frame sensors on Sony E-mount cameras. Since it’s an E-mount lens, it’s also fully compatible with their crop-frame APS-C cameras that feature an E-mount.
Versatile Standard Zoom. When used on a full-frame camera, this lens provides a versatile standard zoom range that’s great for environmental photography, candid shots, detailed close-up photography, and videography, among other applications. The constant f/2.8 aperture and rounded eleven-blade diaphragm produce pleasing, artistic bokeh; give you excellent depth-of-field control; and make this lens a great choice for shooting in low light. The 7.1-inch minimum focusing distance and 0.33x maximum magnification let you get in close. Using an APS-C camera? You’ll get a focal-length range equivalent to 36-75mm.
Not Just for Stills. The FE 24-50mm is capable of capturing high-definition video at high speeds. Specifically, its autofocus system, optical design, and precision controls work in tandem to give you 4K video at 120 fps or Full HD video at 240 fps when used with a capable camera, such as the Sony Alpha a9 III. It supports compatible cameras’ Dynamic/Active image-stabilization modes and breathing-compensation functions, you can de-click its manual aperture ring for silent operation, and you can adjust its zoom smoothness until the torque suits your shooting needs.
Advanced Optical Formula. The FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G’s thirteen-group/sixteen-element design includes four aspherical elements and two Extra-Low dispersion elements, which combine to minimize color fringing, chromatic aberrations, and “onion ring” bokeh while producing images with outstanding sharpness and color fidelity.
Dual-Motor Autofocus System. This lens uses two optimized linear autofocus motors and an ultra-precise control system to provide fast, highly accurate, and nearly silent focusing performance that’s great for still and video use. It can keep pace with cameras at up to 120 fps, and can easily acquire and maintain focus even during high frame-rate 4K video capture. A dedicated focus hold button and AF/MF switch help to tailor focusing to your shooting needs.
Gimbal and Drone Ready. The 24-50’s compact, lightweight build; minimal zoom extension; and stable center of gravity make it a great choice for gimbal and drone mounting.
Dedicated Control Rings. This lens includes focus, zoom, and aperture rings that allow you to make quick, precise adjustments while you’re shooting. You can enable clicks on the aperture ring for feedback while you’re shooting stills, or disable clicks for smooth, silent control while you’re capturing video.
Durable, Weather-Resistant Build. The FE 24-50mm’s dust- and moisture-resistant sealing let you shoot in less-than-ideal conditions without worry, while its all-metal barrel gives it a solid feel. Its front element has a fluorine coating to help protect it from fingerprints and debris.
This lens is fully compatible with APS-C format E-mount cameras, on which it’ll provide a 36-75mm equivalent focal length.
